Just for BRT

If your car looks like this, you’ll love ‘Damn Birds’

Reader Bedrocktruth (AKA The Notorious B.R.T.) has been requesting a game in which he gets to shoot things.

By coincidence, the advent of summer has, as usual, inspired the local birds to begin target practice, using my truck as a target. What makes me angry is that my parking space isn’t anywhere near a tree, balcony, or any other place for the birds to perch. The birds have got no reason to fly over my truck, but every morning it looks like I’ve had a special white-on-green polka dotted paint job.

So what’s the connection between my polka dotted truck and the quest to find an entertaining shooting game? This: MoFunZone’s Damn Birds, in which you play the part of a statue in the middle of a bird-infested park. But unlike most statues, you carry a gun.

You start with just a bolt-action rifle, but you can purchase a shotguns, assault rifles, and even a grenade launcher. But as you might expect, when the birds are big and numerous enough to warrant a grenade launcher, you’re pretty much screwed. Anyway, here’s the link:

Flash Portal

14th October 2007

This is how the $19.99 version of Portal works

This post is for reader Bedrocktruth, who requested a game that’s more addictive than Shield Defense. It’s called Flash Portal, and it’s a rip-off of Portal, the newest title from Valve. The graphics are much simpler, and it plays as a side-scroller instead of as a first-person game. So it’s not as good as the real thing, but you don’t have to pay $19.95 and you don’t have to buy a $500 video card. Just click this link, and you’re on your way.

If you think you’d like to buy the “OMG! OMG! OMG!” version of Portal, you can download it here. Before you do that, though, check here to see if your system is ready for this level of graphic intensity.

Gamez!!

29th October 2006

I’ve been forgetting to link to online games in my Friday Video posts, so I’ll make it up by linking to a couple of games right now. I just can’t stand to think of my readers making wise use of their time.

Via Katie of Literal Debutante, I found Virus 2. It’s easy to learn, and you can play a couple of rounds in 5 minutes. The object is to change all of the hexagons to the same color. When you click a color, it changes all of your current hexes to that color, assimilating all adjacent hexes of the same color.

Confused? Don’t be. You’ll pick it up immediately.

I also found a game called Cats. You’ll see 6 cats, and each will be sitting or walking. The object is to make them all do what the highlighted cat is doing. Just touch a cat with your cursor to get it to walk/stop walking. The trouble is, you’re dealing with cats, so they’ll randomly sit or begin walking again, depending on how they’re feeling.

I liked this remake of an annoying Budweiser ad. (the annoying original) (the improved remake)

If you listened to the radio during the 70s and 80s, you’ll think this is hilarious. Be warned: there’s a whole 10 part series linked here, so you might have to block off some time.

The GOP: “Basically a party of criminals and pedophiles

GAMES:

Phase Toy isn’t really a game. It’s a device for putting together rhythms, and it’s kind of fun.

Click Once a Minute is one of several anti-games presented by rrrrrthats5rs.com. Rrrrrthats5rs is a site dedicated to satirizing online games, puzzles, and contests. Click Once a Minute is actually one of their less annoying games.

For the near future, I’m going to make the video and game links into a Friday feature. If I get backlogged, I’ll add another day later on.
