I think it’s now safe to say that Tony Snow is the worst press secretary in history. Here’s some video of Snow’s clumsy attempts to avoid answering a question. His first attempt is the funniest:

This parody hits a lot of offensive stereotypes about the Middle East. Also, it’s way off the mark when it implies that bin Laden and Hussein worked together.
It’s funny in its own way, but I can’t help thinking that the attitudes reflected in this skit helped get Americans to accept the war.

Recently, Chris Clarke gave everyone in the blogosphere a break. He stopped blogging for one glorious month. But he’s back to torment us again, with narcissistic posts in which he talks about what he was doing during his hiatus.
He says that the video at the bottom of this post sums up how things went for him. I think he means to tell us that he spent the month dropping acid.

According to Jay Leno, the Fruitcake Lady was Truman Capote’s aunt, and inspired the woman in A Christmas Memory, which you can read here.
That’s one of my favorite short stories, and it’s contained in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, surely the best collection of short stories this side of Hemmingway.

The Hu joke is hilarious. (Who did the real one? Abbott and Costello? …I used to love them.)
We had a teacher who could draw perfect circles, but he wasn’t allowed to enter competitions. Mostly because he had a robotic arm. Hence…the perfect circles.
