Dog Eats More than $800 in Cash
I think I would have taken an “easy come, easy go” attitude but it appears that Debbie Hulleman, the dog’s owner, loves money a whole lot more than I do:
Some pieces were spread around the house — and some were left in the backyard, after Peppy swallowed the money and did her business. “Pretty soon (I) came to a pile, that had a fifty dollar bill hanging out, part of a fifty, and I said ‘gosh, look at that,’” Hulleman laughed. “There were lots of piles with money hanging out there, so I had to save it, rinse it, strain it.”
I have a friend who worked as a porn clerk for a short time, and he doesn’t have any stories nearly as good as these. Here’s a taste:
One guy brought back a DVD with a big white thumbprint of come on it. He actually tried to argue with me: “That’s not mine. I never even played that! I never even took it out of the case!”
I pointed out that the DVD had been put back in the case with the reverse side up, which was where the thumbprint was. The clerk couldn’t have checked the tape out to him that way because the serial number is on the front. The guy still tried to protest that sure, maybe he’d picked it up and looked at it but - “Sir,” I said, “It’s your THUMBPRINT. Do you really want to get into this?” He did not.

[…] At least you’re not a porn video clerk. Unless you are. (Hat tip.) […]

I wonder if that’s a mutual friend? Of course, that term can be relative…
If not, you have more than one friend who was a porn clerk, my friend! I, on the other hand, spent a short stint as a video clerk in a store with an adult section in it. It pre-dated DVD’s though. We were quite the experts with the FF, PAUSE, and REW buttons in those days.

Glassman–
I believe we’re both thinking of your brother. I’ve known a lot of people who worked in video stores with adult sections, but he’s the only one I know who worked at a place that catered exclusively to the Raincoat Brigade.
