Happy 8th Day of Christmas!
31st December 2008

Like Bill O’Reilly, I think Jews should move to Israel if they don’t want their kids to participate in Christmas activities in public schools
I’m trying to keep this blog from slipping into secularism and paganism, so I’ll be celebrating the official Christian version of New Year’s Day, also known as the 8th day of Christmas. Any non-Christians out there can suck it.
Unfortunately, there’s not much in the way of fun or interesting traditions connected to the 8th day of Christmas, so I’m forced to feature video of a bunch of pagans taking one more step toward the fires of hell:
Hellbound Chinese celebrating pagan new year. This footage was actually taken in February of last year, because the Chinese can never seem to get the date right. I could never figure that out. It’s not like it’s a hard day to remember, and people are always reminding you for an entire week before the new year actually arrives.
Hellbound French surrender monkeys doing some weird French artsy thing.
But all of the 8th Day of Christmas celebrations pale in comparison to the huge display that marked the grand opening of Dubai’s Hotel Atlantis earlier this year. That celebration cost $20 million and was attended by 1,500 invited celebrities. The best rooms in the hotel go for $25,000 a night:
Am I the only one who sees a parallel to the great structures built in the 1920s, most of which sat largely unoccupied for most of the 1930s?
